John Carl Raiss attended Harvard College, where he graduated cum laude in biology. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1978. Dr. Raiss performed his internship and residency in general psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from 1978 to 1981, and his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Reiss-Davis Child Study Center in Los Angeles from 1981 to 1983. He then did a year of research fellowship in child psychiatry at UCLA-NPI.
He is board certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr. Raiss has held several medical directorships including one at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, when that facility had a psychiatric inpatient unit.
He belongs to various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Psychiatric Association.
He currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA where he is involved in teaching medical students.
Dr. Raiss is in private practice in Santa Monica, California.
